Wireless scanners

Barcode scanners, also known as barcode readers, are devices used to decode a barcode and convert it into text visible to the user or application.
There are several divisions of scanners, one of the main is the division into:

  • wired scanners
  • wireless scanners

The most common connection between the scanner and the computer is via a USB or RS232 cable. In the case of connection with cash registers, the KBW interface is used.

Another important division is the code reading range:

1D codes - scanners are equipped with ordinary laser readers or line imagers.
2D codes - scanners are equipped only with imagers. They read 1D and 2D codes.

The right choice of scanner is important due to the type of codes used in the company.
