Wired scanners

Barcode scanners, also known as barcode readers, are devices used to decode a barcode and convert it into text visible to the user or application.
There are several divisions of scanners, one of the main is the division into:

  • wired scanners
  • wireless scanners

The most common connection between the scanner and the computer is via a USB or RS232 cable. In the case of connection with cash registers, the KBW interface is used.

Another important division is the code reading range:

1D codes - scanners are equipped with ordinary laser readers or line imagers.
2D codes - scanners are equipped only with imagers. They read 1D and 2D codes.

The right choice of scanner is important due to the type of codes used in the company.

The Tomex company offers scanners only from reputable manufacturers such as:

  • Motorola
  • Datalogic
  • Honeywell

The Motorola LS2208 wired scanner is one of the best selling 1D barcode scanners for commercial, service, or light industrial applications today. Extremely resistant to falls from a height of 1.5 m. Perfect scanning properties, they can deal with even badly damaged codes.

TOMEX (the manufacturer of self-adhesive labels) recommends the Motorola LS2208 scanner complete with a USB cable, stand and a 60-month warranty for the ordered self-adhesive labels.

The Datalogic PD7100 is a barcode scanner with aggressive scanning algorithms for dirty and damaged codes. This wired scanner is designed for industrial use. The scanner is resistant to various types of falls (even from a height of 2m) and its sealed housing also protects against the effects of the external environment such as strong dust or contact with water, all thanks to the IP65 tightness standard.

Tomex recomends the Datalogic PD7100 scanner complete with USB interface cable for ordered self adhesive labels.

A modern scanner with an image reader, for reading 1D, 2D, DPM barcodes for industrial applications. Adaptus technology, the IP54 standard, the ability to work in extreme temperatures and many other advantages make Honeywell 4800i reliable in all conditions. A loud signal with information on the LED display gives the user an intuitive confirmation of the correctness of the scanned code, even at high levels of ambient noise. Using patented imaging technology, the Honeywell 4800i quickly and safely scans barcodes of poor quality, even on reflective surfaces and shiny surfaces.

TOMEX recommends a Honeywell 4800i scanner complete with a USB interface cable for the ordered self-adhesive labels.
